It's because they first were in the display business for many years. ViewSonic made consumer level all the way up to pro-grade monitors and displays, and related display technologies for a long time. Their pro level displays have always been touted as some of the best.

Now they have gotten into other areas of hardware manufacturing. They're in a tough spot with the name.
