You Rock Guitar now on track for February at $180, rockin' still in question
Last we heard anything about ezGear's You Rock Guitar it was on track for a launch in "either Q2 or Q3" (of 2009) and would supposedly pack a price tag in the neighborhood of $150. Well, it seems that another year and another CES can make quite the difference, as the company (now known as Inspired Instruments) is now promising that the not-a-toy guitar will launch in February of this year, and that it will sport a slightly higher price tag of $179.95. From the looks of things, however, that's about all that's changed with the guitar, which still packs the same USB connectivity, MIDI functionality, and iPod or MP3 player connectedness as before. The company is even going so far as to reuse its tried and true promotional video -- see it after the break.

Guitar Queero... :(
@E71
Dear everyone. Do not get this. This is a waste of time and money.
If you seriously want to learn to play guitar. Buy a guitar. The Fender Squier series are fantastic. 200 bucks for a guitar, a practice amp and a tuner. That is all you really need.
@Tiptup300
For that reason, yeah it sucks
HOWEVER there is some serious capability that it has MIDI out. As a controller hooked up in Logic, FL, or Pro Tools, it might be kinda cool. It costs a ton to fit a reel guitar for MIDI or buy an eigenharp. For composers, this might just be a sleeper MIDI controller
@E71
I have played guitar professionally my whole life, for a living. i have graduated from the best music schools on the planet. And I am here to tell you this is not a guitar, its something new and wonderful its a full fledged system for fun, learning, and expanding your horizons and saving thousands of dollars while doing so.
I f some kid out there in cyberspace is sitting in front of his netbook and telling you, " duh, I've never seen or played the you rock guitar, but go buy a cheapo squier
how is any serious thoughtful person, a person interested in new things, going to take a kids negativity seriously?
Get The You ROock Guita , it will open your eyes up to the new world of music that is coming
@E71
Its fun to be negative and a funny wisecracking class clown
The smart people will buy the YOU ROCK GUITAR and leave all the haters and losers in the dust
@guitaru
I can't tell if you're being serious or not. I've been playing guitar for about 2 years now.

Theres the same exact thing, except probably not as terrible.
I've been playing guitar, real guitar, for a long time. If you're interested in playing at all, just go grab a beater guitar and start playing. That's all you have to do. Don't bother with any of this crap.
If you have the power to rock inside of you, you will rock regardless.
Rock on!
@xCrunk "If you have the power to rock inside of you, you will rock regardless."
I'm guessing that line will be in the new High School Musical Guitar Hero movie ;)
@xCrunk
Yoda plays guitar
@xCrunk downtuning must be a bitch if it never needs tuning.. and who uses standard nowadays
@xCrunk to be honest I think it is pretty cool and kind of want one, I used to play guitar a lot when I was younger (since I was around 5) but do mostly electronic music nowadays, there really hasn't been much in the way of real "midi" or usb>midi guitars since those casio ones that came out in the 80's and those had that rubber fretboard and no real strings to speak of- it would be fun to hook this up to all sorts of random equipment I have around as well as to ableton, I would love to use it to trigger loops for fun.

I am a PRO a real one, a TEACHER a real one, a MIDI and computer, areal one
THE YOU ROCK GUITAR is a serious must have innovation.... A REAL ONE
It looks too small to be serious.
@Ghen "You Rock Ukulele"
@Ghen Now before this gets out of hand...
C-C-COMBO BREAKER!
@Ghen
that's what she said.
@Ghen
Its totally serious, is an IPHONE to small also
Only for people with no neck and below-the-knee amputees?
@DTJ
Not to mention a radiant, "Gandalf The White" outer body glow. If it gave me that, I'd buy it.
LOL @ "for Musicians & Professionals"
You Dork Guitar...
maybe if it had different tuning options or automatic tuning, it would be awesome :)
Anyone else look at that kids face and immediately hear a "HURRRR" inside your head?
@mmauve
YEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
that kid jumping in the ad looks like the kid from "MASK" the movie with cher...lol
just saying
I don't care if it's a Guitar Hero controller, I think everyone's missing the point here. All I care is that if this delivers like it's supposed to as a midi controller, I'm getting one myself!
I love the fact that the video only has about 3 seconds of someone actually using it, and the rest is all basic "First few months using Adobe Flash". I'm guessing they've spent millions on producing the product, letting the boss's nephew do the video was a bad idea.

@guitaru
ezGear/Inspired Instruments employee, amirite?
I thought it was crap at first but when I read that it has MIDI functionality I might have to get one instead of looking for a CASIO DG-20 on eBay.
@Yaris I love you yourockguitar!!!! Definitely my favorite new item that I have got in a while..perfect size and amazing sound..and amazing price given the econ. right now...
