We think that the GT540 stands a good chance of doing for Android what the Cookie did for low cost touchscreens.<br>Although the design of this phone looks like the 90's indeed. (Other than the lock screen.)]]></description><dc:creator><![CDATA[Badgerman]]></dc:creator><pubDate>Jan 8th 2010 7:02PM</pubDate></item><item><title><![CDATA[Comments on LG's GT540 mixes Android 2.0, pretty, and low-end]]></title><link>http://www.engadget.com/2010/01/08/lgs-gt540-mixes-android-2-0-pretty-and-low-end/</link><guid isPermaLink="true">http://www.engadget.com/2010/01/08/lgs-gt540-mixes-android-2-0-pretty-and-low-end/</guid><description><![CDATA[I like the idea of putting a Smartphone OS onto a low-end device.<br>We'll all get an OS with great functionalities for a low price!<br>That is impossible with the iPhone OS.<br>Yes, the iPhone 3GS is a great device, but there are many great Android devices out there. <br>I got an Acer Liquid, based on Android 1.6, will get Eclair in March.<br>It's just as fast as the 3GS with its 768 MHz Snapdragon and additionally it has multitasking.<br>There aren't as many apps for Android as for the iPhone, but most of the iPhone apps are crap anyways.<br>Sure, most games for mobile platforms are for iPhone.<br>But personally I don't spend that much time on mobile gaming.<br>What I want to do when I'm not at home is watching movies, reading my RSS feeds, reading my Twitter & listening to my music.<br>And this is done the best way with Android.<br>Multitasking and notifications in the top bar.
