The microphone cable is faulty I would hardly call that hardware.. I also sent a request in when the first notification of this issue arose some time last year. Never heard back and now no longer at the previous email address of my old job. Just tried to hit the link on their support page and the site is down. I called Acer technical support, and they will ship out a replacement wire for me.
