We all had to agree that another friend's Nokia N97 was probably the best of all at reproducing music (though not vids and pics) and my other phone , an HTC Hero, when using a good dedicated app (such as the the free Meridian or RockOut) is on a par with all of the above.
I'm pretty sure that the Droid/Milestone, Nexus One, experia X10, etc. are at least as good; and if one insists on using Apple stuff I just don't get why anyone would want to buy an iPod touch instead of an iPhone.
PMPs, pocket calculators and Sat nav units belong to the past, the future belong to the "Universal Gizmo" , of which the smartphone is the present time first tentative incarnation.
As Douglas Adams predicted soon we will only need one device and one towel.

What I'm curious about is if Coby's Media Manager is optional or required. I'm looking for a new PMP that's not tethered to any proprietary media managers and can function purely as a UMD. Their players are very nice, they're not too expensive, and you can use any program with them. Their battery life and codec support is really good too. Oh, never mind. Coby made it. I'd rather get dragged down a highway by a rope attached to my foot then attached to a Hummer driven by a drunk red-neck who is about to miss Nascar but still thinks he has time to stop and buy a sixpack of discount beer and make it to his run-down home and watch Nascar on his HDTV which is connected to basic Cable making the "HD" part of "HDTV" completely pointless. So the money that he spent to buy it at Walmart (Where else?) could've been used on bailing his troubled teenage son out of jail the past Tuesday when he robbed a liquor store and got caught. He ran, of course. But the many times he skipped Gym class to go smoke pot with his friends have finally caught up to him and now he is obese and can't run from (perhaps even more obese) police officers.
