I've been looking at several complementary/replacement devices, originally the N900 and the Xperia X10, but now the Nexus One additionally.

When this was first posted I was leaning towards the N900 having actually played with it right around then. But I've been hearing bad things about Maemo 5 being a stepping stone to 6 (I don't like 6 was announced at the Meamo Summit) and given Nokia's somewhat shaky upgrade history with Maemo; I don't want to invest $550 odd dollars into a device and not get much support back. The fine browser, FM transmitter, exceptional Bluetooth support, crazy codecs support and easy native tethering are the things that appeal to me most about this handset.

The X10, on the other hand, seems to media super powers. Something that corrects what I think is Android biggest weakness. Its been announced with 1.6, but word from SE is that an update is coming and with Snapdragon it certainty has the ability to last every bit as long as the DROID and Nexus One. Also it has a FWVGA instead of the WVGA of the other 2 which makes it better for video However it is the most expensive device with expansys pre-ordering for $894.99 and I’m not sure I want to be at the mercy of SE for upgrades beyond the confirmed one to 2.X.

The new addition is the Nexus One which I was interested in but not considering until it was torn down and the N Wi-Fi and an FM transmitter were revealed. It almost seems to be a hybrid of the 3 phones mentioned above, plus its surely bleeding edge android updates.

Ultimately I want T-Mobile 3G, a WVGA screen, a 3.5 mm Jack, a 5 mp+ AF/ Flash camera, a top tier browser and DVD quality (WVGA) video recording.

Whats your take on the X10 vs the N900 vs Nexus One and those vs anything else you can think of?

Sorry for the length; love the podcast, keep up the good work! -Dpmt

Dpmt

Comments on Engadget Mobile Podcast 031: Saturday @ CES 2010 - 01.09.2010

@Dpmt Also sorry about being so tardy with my question.

Dpmt

Comments on Engadget Mobile Podcast 031: Saturday @ CES 2010 - 01.09.2010

@Dpmt Further Update: I'm not so sure about the Nexus One now with its 3G issues and other problems.
