If it matures to the point that the sound quality becomes on par with other speakers in gadgets I can see it gaining widespread adoption. but even without being able to play music like a high end home system it still has some very good uses.

I would think that if it is thin and transparent it would be a good replacement for the speaker on cellular phones. Activate the speakerphone mode and the whole screen becomes a speaker. Or play back a music clip to your friends.

On a handheld game system like the DS you could make the screen be a speaker and be able to make a more compact unit.

Car speaker systems could be replaced with this type of film on the windows.

Computer monitors, second TV's, GPS units, you name it. Pretty much anything that uses a speaker and has a view screen could use this technology to make it more compact.

Hell, I would love to one day be able to have the windows in the living room be coated with a material like this that filtered UV light and doubled as the speakers so I wouldn't have speakers hanging all around the room for the surround system.

dennisheadley

Comments on Fils Sound Film transparent speaker hands-on (video)

@dennisheadley

the app's are endless, and could def go hand in hand with Samsung and Sony's OLED-TV development.
