Streaming is streaming, but I'm more excited about devices that offer a range of entertainment sources, rather than ways to share stuff I already have.

or Boxee Box + SlingBox + 1TB External = $500 (and gives me access to internet content, streaming live TV, and a hard drive that I can connect to my computer to fill with content). Also, 200 movies x 2hrs (average movie time) = 400 hours/24 hours = 16.67 straight days of recording + 16.67 more days to transcode them into mobile format! (thanks Bahndit) $800 for that privilege? If there were actually more information about this damn thing people wouldn't assume it's just a media player/streamer.

From what I understand is you can connect your BD player, HD cable box, and game console to it and have it stream this out over the network transcoded for PC and mobile device playback.

I am thinking of comparing it to a component matrix switch that has multiple component inputs and multiple outputs. Instead, rather than multiple outputs it only has one for the local display and a network connection to stream to other device.

The retail cost of a 4x4 component matrix switch it like $500 but this also does media streaming, transcoding and recording.

Due to all of the DMCA shenanigans, I don't think that tools for ripping DVDs got that polished or widespread.

I saw this at the show and this in an inacurate description of the ZAGGbox. In order to make something available on your mobile device the box has to playback the file and transcode it again! So if you want something on the box you first have to record it through the Component inputs real time. Maybe in the future.
