Especially since these things get discounted to oblivion within a year.  I picked up a YSp-3000 for $300. It would be better to get a 7.1 system and have someone fit them so all wires are hidden. Not everyone can have a 10" subwoofer. I like the idea of soundbars overall - small, compact, sits under TV - hate the price tag. I'm getting quite good sound from stereo mini-system connected to the TV. Everyone who is saying that they are needs to take a step back and think about the use case.  If you rent, then you probably do not have the option of running wires in the walls.  And you might not have the space for 5 or 7 speakers.  Plus if you are at a stage of life where you move every year or two, something like this is great.  Also, some people prefer the aesthetics of a simpler set-up, even at the cost of lower quality surround.  All that being said, $2000 is probably too steep for most people in the aforementioned situation. I ended up retiring my ADA Cinema Rhapsody for an earlier Yamaha model of YSP soundbar. <br><br>Is it as nice? In the front I do have a real 5.1 but for the bedroom this is amazing. The Polk sound bar 'emulates'. <br><br>ie, turn your head listening to the Polk Sound bar, and the sound from the corner is gone. (psycho-acoustics)<br><br>Turn your head with a YSP, and you still hear sound coming from the corner. <br><br>the amount of times i have heard these YSP's i would say they can produce separate channels at:<br>3 and 9 O'clock pretty easily. <br>4 and 8 O'clock are not uncommon, provided they set up the unit properly.<br>5 and 7 O'clock are unlikely though. unless they have the perfect room and professionally set up i haven't heard anything come from here.<br>As for 6 O'Clock... well i don;t think Yamaha has ever claimed they can get there anyhow.]]></description><dc:creator><![CDATA[chris]]></dc:creator><pubDate>Feb 18th 2010 10:42AM</pubDate></item></channel></rss>
