When iPhone came out it didn't have the capability of software whatsoever. So the question is ... how fast did iPhone blow up after they announced it was capable of 3rd party software? BIG TIME. It has the biggest software market available on any mobile platform including the best games from big name publishers more quickly than any other platform got them. WebOS has had 3rd party app capability for a while now and look at where its at? It hasn't exactly exploded, and for the most part nobody cared. It will be the same for games. WebOS may get a few big games, but it will fizzle out as game developers see a larger and more lucrative market in the iPhone arena. ESPECIALLY with the next generation iPhone being more geared for gaming. WebOS will go nowhere as a gaming platform. It will be the Nokia N-Gage phone all over again. Oh yeah! Palm must be a bad student then, because they did not listen to their instructors at Apple.

Apple gave us an iPhone interface that looks like "calculator buttons".

Yet the Palm Pre smart phone gave us an "open desktop" - the closest thing to a PC on a mobile device. But what is truly revolutionary about the webOS operating system is that – because the screens on mobile devices are small, simply swiping your finger on the screen from right to left or left to right reveals multiple "desktops". So in theory, you can have more applications elegantly accessible from your desktop than what is typically available on a PC; simply brilliant!

Oh, and Palm forgot that the iPhone only runs one developer app at a time (bad student!).

So Palm gave us multitasking. You can open multiple applications at a time, and each application becomes a card – floating above the desktop. You can move (swipe with your finger) the cards from right to left or left to right to reveal other cards (i.e. other open applications). Want to close an application? Simple! When you are done, you simply swipe the card up, and it disappears from the screen to close the application.
