Actually all these rumors verify one thing that will make Apple's tablet revolutionary and likely beat Google/Android to the punch:

Multiple appstores (NYT, Harper, Fox, etc...).

Apple is all about the ecosystem *experience* and a tablet needs a bigger ecoystem than iTunes only. And content/app providers like NYT don't allow '3rd party apps', so the old iTunes store and dreaded review process are not needed--a new store is needed...

From the looks of it, I put my money on multiple appstores being announced with te Tablet. And together they will be the NEW thing. And that concludes my positive contribution to Apple rumors.

Reason 1. Saying that Windows 7 is"slapped on" is disingenuous at best. The myth that people don't buy tablets because the touch experience is pushed by people who a) haven't used Windows 7 touch interface yet on a NEW touchscreen device (lemme give you a hint. It's built in with cutting edge touch and pen technologies that outshines and overshadows any other OS. There's multitouch all up in there too.). People dont buy tablets (I think you mean slates) for 2 reasons. They are more expensive than their laptop counterparts, and two, if their slates, there's no physical keyboard. Not because its got a fully functional OS on it. Stop being so ludicrous. There's even a tablet/slate for the mac, although its by a third party. I have 4 machines that i owe personally, and 8 in my house total (other 4 are my wife's). 2 are hackintosh. My workhorse is an homebuilt i7 8 gig with Win 7/Ubuntu/OSX triple boot. I have a Dell Mini 9 with OSX on it. Don't use unless I'm on the road. I have a old HP lappy. So please stop with the personal attacks and come at my argument. I'll say it again real slow, and explain it to you like a 6 year old: I said I won't buy Apple products, because I'm a Apple hater. What is so wrong about that position, tell me. Is it not my money to spend.

My main argument is of the tablet, and specifically the OS of the tablet was this. I am not going to buy a giant iPhone. I wouldnt suggest others do it. There's no reason that this tablet that they release needs to have a mobile OS, aside to the fact that they WANT you to be tied to iTunes. That's it. I was addressing the fact that some of us WANT a full-fledge OS that runs Applications, and not ObjectiveC Apps or. So tell me, where is this shameful attitude that I have? Or is it that you can't actually provide any counter-argument to what I'm actually saying.

Of course I've seen it. What's your point? Windows 7 has a variety of tablet optimizations including native gestures, multitouch, inking, momentum panning, and an adaptive interface which changes sizes of certain elements depending on the input method (ie, target areas get larger if you're using your fingers). The new taskbar in particular is an example of this.

But of course I'm wasting my breath, because you know this already. Otherwise one might consider your opinion uninformed.

I'm going to chime in on this one.

"The Apple Experience?" You mean running OSX on overpriced, non-upgradable cheap hardware in a pretty box? As much as I do really like Apple's laptops and iMacs, I can't help but wince when having to use a USB hub when traveling just to use the USB devices I regularly use. (just ONE MORE friggin USB port on the lappy, PLEASE Apple) And moreso, the inability to add cards, upgrade my graphics (or processor without brain surgery) basically means I'll likely never be buying an iMac. That's where a hackintosh comes in. Some people like the ability to have a choice when they want one rather than having their choices dictated to them.

OSX is a very nice GUI (albeit with a few irritations) on top of the surprisingly stable core of Mach microkernel/BSD/NextStep, and very doable on a normal PC with the right drivers/tweaks (have fun hunting). For those who love a challenge, a hackintosh can be a very fun way to get the use of the desired OS with the hardware you want. Sure there will be headaches, but figuring them out is part of the fun. It's just that people who don't normally look at things in that way won't understand. But let's face it : users, the vast majority of them, do not want such a thing as a "desired OS".
They don't even know what a OS is in the first place, and all in all they don't actually care.

Do you care about the firmware in your TV set? Proprietary, open-source, licensed? Family, build, revision?
Pointless... The TV just delivers what it's intended to deliver, and you get the full "watching TV" experience.

This is exactly how it goes regarding the "apple experience". Geeks complain about geek stuff, users focus on what the device should deliver. Comfortable UI is a plus, tricky UI, when offered a choice, is a no-go. Regular UI is just state-of-the art.
Apple made comfortable-UI state-of-the-art, they focus on content (taking for granted that they actually *know* how to build hardware anyway), and deliver.

Now, don't get me wrong, i never bought an iphone and just got myself an open-source OS phone.
