Plenty of other companies manage to make lots of models of very different phones. Once Verizon makes their official announcement regarding LTE... they have to wait at least 2 years before they pull the plug on CDMA. Since Verizon has 90 million customers... this transition will happen over a span of many years.

If someone buys a new CDMA Verizon phone tomorrow January 22, 2010... and thousands of people will... With regards to Windows7 how many PC users (still on XP) browse this site, yes some might switch to Apple, and some might decide to click on the ad and check out Windows7. The top 5 commented (and in likelihood most viewed) stories of the last 24 hours at the moment are Apple, Apple, Nokia, Apple, Palm. Apple gets clicks, clicks get Advertising revenue. I'm not saying its good, i'm not saying that we couldn't do with a round-up every 2/3 days instead of twice a day. I'm just responding to the question of "Does Apple pay AOL to write junk like this?" by saying no, but the advertisers like it more when Engadget posts an Apple story or a Nokia story, or a Palm story more than when they post a NASA story or a 3D food printer story (which were both pretty cool concepts).

d0mth0ma5

Comments on

@d0mth0ma5 Obviously advertisers love clicks and high-traffic, and I actually don't think the ads are specifically related to each post because you see the same ones all over the site.

Comments would be more diversified across the site if they quit all the rumormill!
