Does anyone know if the claimed 300ish MB/s is the real speed of the drive or just the theoretical speed of the interface.  It seems odd that PATA would slow you down THAT much.  I ask because there's not much speed difference in PATA vs. SATA on desktops, since the limiting factor is the drive. Any sort of threaded I/O and they freeze up for 10-20 seconds.
