I doubt medical and educational use unless apple ditches itunes dependancy.

I cant imagine doctors in wards or teachers needing to sync to itunes to get things done.

According to Wikipedia, 'pod' was an homage/refrence to 2001: A Space Oddessy ("open the Pod bay doors, HAL")

Which is actually quite clever, considering the 'eye' of the clickwheel and the sterile white design. Apple products are always more locked-down than anyone else's products. With Apple, it's their way or the highway, and I'm happily cruising down the highway giving Apple the finger. No other vendor pulls this shit; even Microsoft's platforms are more open than Apple's.
