I hope they finally do something about this. I paid $1400 for a tx1420us that has this damn problem. Two years later, the resell value of this laptop is nothing. I cant even GIVE it away because I have to take it apart and put it in the oven for 5 minutes every week just to make it work. I went to Frys the other day and the brand new model they had on the shelf had the same damn issue. multi colored lines down the screen, reboot, no POST. HP staff acknowledged its a known issue and advised a post warranty for this model as long as it is still 'functional' (you can still use it as a PC despite being crippled!). After you have purchased a post warranty, send it in for a mainboard replacement as they advised it. Be warned that there are many lemon models out there but limited to certain batch run regardless of which brand you go for. I am using my TX 1000. My wireless was dying gradually and finally died. Than my mobo began to overheat and die. Fortunately, it was one month before my warranty died.

My sister was not so lucky though. I bought her a TX 1000 before I bought mine and her mobo died TWO months after her warranty expired. HP wanted $400 for the mobo so I suggested it would be best to just pay it than buy another one.

Lesson learned; Never buy HP and I will never buy it ever again. YOU SUCK HP! On the dv6000 and dv2000, it was usually a motherboard issue. Luckily, HP finally saw the light and has a service campaign out on those models, but plenty of people threw them away back when they were just past their 1-year warranty and HP refused to fix them.

Bottom line: HP fails. Would be hard to kill the wifi without doing the LCD cable first thou as they have a bit more give to them in general
