I have a laptop that is not constantly running.  I can plug this right into my router and connect my phone.  Then, my phone will work even when my computer is off/sleeping.  It's actually a pretty cool idea. First, the power savings he mentioned are that you don't have to have your computer on all the time, so it's just using a fraction of the power a normal desktop computer uses. Another reason to have an independent device is that when you reboot (or lock up) your computer, you don't lose or miss a call. One for the regular phone and one for the dedicated fax. Althought recently it stopped sending faxes, it will however still receive them.<br><br>Magicjacks customer service sucks. You can only contact them via chat. When I asked for a replacement to fix the fax situation, they said NO! One thing you might wanna try is lowering the fax machine's transmission speed down to it's slowest speed. No promise of a fix for your setup but certainly worth a try. Cut my phone bill down to 1/5 to what i was paying. I haven't really followed the netTalk/Magic Jack fight as I figure it's only going to end up with cellular providers kaboshing them somehow, but judging from netTalk's writer's inability to properly distinguish between plurals and singulars, I'm tending towards siding with Magic Jack on this one. It keeps my cell phone bills down and she is in Hong Kong and it works like a charm.  The NetTalk box needs to be plugged into a regular outlet, then your router and phone...I dont know where you guys keep your work phone but mine is right next to my computer, not by my router (it is in my entertainment center where my tv is as i dont have a cable jack in my office room). With Ooma, QoS will be initiated and protect the call bandwidth only while the call is in use and then release the call bandwidth upon conclusion of the call. But even with a GV to Gizmo5 to SIP device, you cant get 911.  The Registered E911 feature of this device is great + if you ask me.  <br><br>I cant find a bad review on the internet so i just threw down for one. Otherwise, they will be dialing the NetTalk phone number when they call you back.  Then they might leave voice mail with NetTalk instead of Google Voice.  So even if you want to use Google Voice, you can't quite do it without Google specific hardware or software.  I have this problem with my mobile phone now.
