You know that 49-port USB hub you picked up last year? Sissy. Thanko just introduced an 80-port USB hub to charge all of your gadgets from a single location. Fantasy or nightmare? Well, first you have to consider the price (¥14,800, about $165) and the cabling chaos this will bring. Then you must know that the hub seems to charge your devices only: no USB data. And are you really man enough to handle the repulsive stares that a device like this will surely invoke from your family and so-called friends? Who cares! When a gadget promises this:

My guess is this is targeted at commercial uses.

For example, a company that uses USB-rechargeable barcode scanners or something similar in a warehouse.

Or maybe just for someone like Woz, who probably could fill an 80-spot USB charge station with his own collection!

Although it's probably safe, this reminds me of the pictures of power strips with too many plugs in them that cause fires. In my opinion if you are using a hub with that many plugs you are probably trying to do too much off one USB 2 port. I think USB 3 would be better suited for something with that many ports.
