But the processor is a deal breaker.. looks like they just had a couple ARM11-s left over from G1s and MyTouches so they went: "heck, we'll just remove the chin from the G1 and sell it as a new phone". I love my G1, and this definitely isn't a successor to it.

yep, sure does look like it. Funny they went with a LG-like keyboard. Sure is going to be a. thick, and b.heavy like the moment. May be beautiful but the keyboard blows. The vert keyboard is easy to use also and holistically more intuitive. No need to reorient the device, just quickly slide up the screen, you can do it with one hand, then start typing. Vertical keyboards can be extremely nice to type on, too. G1 owners bought the G1 as early adopters. That mean the replacement should have NexusOne hardware and a slider. FINALLY an Android phone with a keyboard that doesn't looks like it would suck. The keys look nice and big, spaced apart and the top row isn't crammed up against the sliding mechanism making it hard to press.

I always found it pathetic that some $50 regular dumb-phones have vastly superior keyboards to the $500 Droid.

T-Mobile, if this is an actual prototype bring it ASAP.

You are not seriously comparing automotive design to the design of cell phones are you?
Even the most basic of basic cars now a days have a semblance of style and some uniqueness - while the opposite is true with newer and newer phones. The more "advanced" the phone (which presumably means a big fat touchscreen), the more generic the shape because that touchscreen is taking over the whole front of the device.
Look at the Droid - literally 2 rectangular boxes stacked on top of each other. The G1 not much different.

This phone - if it turns out to be a real product - at least has a great keyboard layout.
