This doesn't look that bad? If you're on Verizon and are trying to get your Android fix the Droid should be your best friend. If you can wait till spring you can just pick up the Nexus One. engadget has been fraking with the comment system for the last week. it's incredibly annoying.

While, for most tech enthusiasts, I would agree this is not an option, getting the Android platform on cheaper phones means only 1 thing: larger installed-base.
