Any time you build the system yourself, you get a much more powerful, expandable, and customizable device than you can buy off the shelf. I have build my own NAS, firewall, and HTPCs and I have used other peoples out-of-the-box solutions and I can wholeheartedly say that my set ups are way more functional and robust than anything my friends and family have. In fact, many of them have asked my to build my systems for them. I have a HP ex485 and a HTPC. I love them both, but only one of them meets your criteria. There's a plugin for WHS to watch your torrents (and add them), but, short of an unadvised work-around you don't open a connection to actually download to that system. This means two systems are on and numerous other technical issues. You'll need two systems for that HDMI requirement too. And HP's media streaming is lackluster, particularly in HD videos. I think its Tversity's backend, but HP's implementation. Again, work-arounds exist, but have proved hard to get working for me.

A nettop, shuttlepc, or build-a-beast next to your tv are your best options. The purist in me fundamentally dislikes that unholy combination. You're talking about an inherent client/server one-to-many relationship here: one NAS, many streamers.
