The reason Sony is more expensive is because of their technology. I own an LCD Multi Function Display computer monitor from Sony with 1600:1 optical contrast ratio. The best I have seen from Samsung and others is 1000:1 optical contrast ratio. So what these other companies do is give you dynamic contrast ratio so the number seems high. Sony does the same in their advertising to counter those other companies, but in reality, Sony's technology is superior. While Nokia got the 40% there world second largest manufacturer got lower market share than HTC.
Samsung have had superb hardware since Nokia started chilling after N95, but their suppoer for devices have been really bad. Example comparing omnia HD and N97.

Still can't wait to see what they have in store for us. Seems to me that Samsung always makes quality, attractive handsets. Where they need to leave things alone is with the OS. Samsung is just like Sony in the 60s-80s. their high quality product keeps getting more and more expensive after gaining market trust and market shares. I don't really get all the complaints about AMOLED displays not being usable in direct sunlight though. Since when were anything but ultra bright LCDs with the toughest anti-glare coating usable in that sort of light?
