schubas is awesome...
@doubter
awesomeness!
@iroq d mullet itd be infinitely more awesome if buzz supported my hero, but alas tis not to be at this time....
@doubter
Haha, I was going to say the same thing. Love seeing the bands Friday nite.
@doubter
Yes very awesome.
@doubter Lincoln Hall is pretty awesome too, which is owned by the same people as Schubas.
@mattcoz i have yet to go to lincoln hall cause i believe it opened up after i moved from chicago after 32 years in chicago - now live in new orleans. still there is no place in chicago as cool as the late/great lounge ax, rip.
@doubter Hah awesome, I live right down the street from there. My band (zomg shameless plug http://mosescleveland.com ) has played at Double Door, Martyrs', Empty Bottle, so Schubas is now our 2010 goal.
no native iphone app :(
@CRWheeler Might be in review process by Malus pumila
@CRWheeler Too bad huh? Im sure apple would just block it, then create their own and charge you for it instead
@TikiTeko
Ya know I really think google may not be bringing these innovations to the iPhone. There are a bunch of Google Labs stuff on the Android version that's not on the iPhone. As well as the elephant in the room...Google Navigation. No love for the iPhone there either.
It's no doubt anymore that Android is the platform to be for accessing Google services via mobile phone.
@CRWheeler
To add salt to the wound, I just installed this on my Nokia N82. Yeah... it available for Symbian S60 phones too, just point your mobile browser to http://maps.google.com/m on your cell phone.
@vvnraman
Thanks for the tip :)
And the correct url is http://m.google.com/maps
downloading it now :)
@vvnraman
umm, i can't find any way to make a buzz :\
@(Unverified)
Ahh, just needed to click the speech bubble :)
Works great on MyTouch 3G running 1.6.
@Dimitri Doesn't work for me on Acer Liquid running 1.6, even with the new 4.0 Maps downloaded. Tried in on the new 4.0 for Symbian on an E71 too, no go. I think it's because i'm not in the US.
@silentio
Try this.
In Google Maps 4.0, go to Options >> Layers and activate the Buzz layer. Then click on any location, let the app load the location's address and try using the option "Buzz about this place."
Google is on point!
@Maj is the name of the app .. google maps 4 twidroid?
@pedmart " every other Android set out there running 1.6 or higher will work as well "
i see... i think my hero is still in 1.5 somethin... damn..
@Maj agreed
Why comment when you can buzz?
@pedmart
At least you guys will be getting 2.1 soon enough
http://www.engadget.com/2010/02/09/htc-hero-update-to-android-2-1-pegged-for-mid-march/
@Steve B
For European Heros. Nothing for Sprint Hero or Droid Eris yet... =[
Got it, works like charm in Nexus. My biggest concern over buzz is that it shows your actual name when view all buzz around your area in Map. Now, maybe Google need to update their privacy setting for buzz.
Second that!
@firerock I agree. And I don't want to change my display name because that would affect all my outgoing emails.
Strange thing... http://www.google.com/mobile/maps/index_.html down below there is a table with buzz support on android 2.0+ and iphone... Though it's workin on 1.6 as the post said...
FFS HTC can you hurry up and sort out the Hero update. It takes the **** that so many Apps no longer work on my phone.
May have to go Moto next time.
Bah, come on HTC! It's been months already..hurry the heck up!
I sure hope Sprint doesn't decide to hold onto the Hero update when HTC finally lets it loose..
Whats up with comments? I can leave a new comment, but I can't reply? It keeps saying that it's making a new account when I try to reply.
running on my Touch Pro2 now. Thanks big brother!
Hey! It works on iPhone default maps application interesting!
@ashleythehottiest where exactly are you seeing this in the maps app on iphone?
@CRWheeler I dunno i was just getting directions to Starbucks and these little bubble things starting popping up i thought it was google buzz it had a pic and their name and a status update next to it.
@CRWheeler It seems like they have submitted an app for it:
http://www.google.com/mobile/iphone/
@ashleythehottiest
That's the web app (Buzz.google.com). There's not gonna be a native app, except for integration with Maps. Apple didn't let Google add Latitude into the Maps on iPhone; I doubt this will be different.
DANG IT...Thanks alot HTC for taking your sweet time to update all of us loyal Sprint HTC Hero users who have been running stupid 1.5 FOREVER... man...I can't wait till 2.1....2011 here we come!!!!
I hate the default colors and tones of Android OS. Why can't be more elegant, like webOS, or more uniform, like iPhone?
Those grays, dark grays, blacks, white orange and greens just look so amateurish. Add to that the primitive nerdy "Android" font. I mean any given webOS screenshot looks far more elegant.
@TareG What in the hell does that have to do with Google Maps 4.0 and Google Buzz?
@ashleythehottiest
Nothing. It's an immediate reaction to the screenshot, that's all.
I just want Android to look as good as its homescreen....
@TareG i would assume you're not talking about android 2.1, cause that looks and works awesome... (and i still have 2 iphones, one my employee uses and one for development)
@duntuk
Hold on now. 2.1's homescreen looks great (far better than HTC Sense IMO), and so does the 3D app scroller. But inside, core Android still has the same ugly shades of dark and light grey, with those strange orange and green highlights, and ugly nerdy font.
I mean look at webOS, the core OS pages all have shading, 3D effects, fading, and the font is very elegant and appealing.
wait its on the iphone?!
i keep trying and im not getting any luck!, unless i use buzz.google.com
Not just Android! Symbian also gets 4.0 Maps.
Not for the cliq tho:(
Finally Google did something perfect. New Maps is fucking great ! New features are great !
Looks pretty useful. Just turned Buzz on to see someone post for a nearby restaurant "Don't eat here, service is awful" never been to that place before but wont go there now =P
WHY MUST GOOGLE hate the iphone.
@stevenrmarrocco Google loves the iphone. Apple hates competition and blocks google from updating the maps application. And latitude, and google voice and any app that even mentions android in the description... etc.. etc..
There is a solution. Take a stand against Apple's draconian policies and get a different OS. You now how options. Maemo, Android, WebOS.
