This guy happens to be at the edge of this 3g coverage, and when he covers the antenna it drops to 2g. I think one important aspect is that this is Google's first piece of hardware.  I don't think this makes Google as a whole "fail" but it does show that the other phone makers are actually pretty good at what they do. A phone is more than a smaller computer with a custom OS. Tho... It's a Google branded HTC phone. Especially if Google made HTC rush the production of this phone == lack of testing...<br><br>And for of course, Nexus competitors will be spreading FUD like an east coast snow storm.<br><br>Sounds like Google should directly sample those complaining, give them new N1s and see if they get the same issue. I just repeated the test 3 times, all were identical. I tried the same thing shown in the video and the signal doesn't vary by more than 2 dBm and it stays on hsdpa the whole time. Bungled rollout, botched CS, horrid coverage and network.<br><br>Apple + AT&T: OMGWTFBBQ. We know have to pounce on Apple by default because of AT&T. So any perceived network issues are in essence multiplied by a factor of 10.<br><br>Google Phone: TMobile? Why? 3G coverage is having problems and people are surprised? Seriously?<br><br>2 things are causing problems with the whole thing: Price of the Phone, and choice of the 1st Provider of service. If Google was really interested in pushing the status quo, they would price it for the manufactured cost (around $200), and get it into people's hands. IMO: The issue with the N1 goes beyond price and carrier. Anyways, how do we know the N1 is really ready for "Showbiz"? <br><br>If it is a hardware issue then how does that fall only on the carrier? <br><br>For example lets say the phone seems to be switching out of 3g to 2g to freqently causing issues to the experience. Could RF HW in the phone not be performing properly and causing the software to detect low signal in 3g and switch over to 2g?<br><br>Google has managed to dip their hands into many areas and the real test of the company will be over the next 5+ years. Sitting in the same location her page will have already loaded, while mine hasn't even started and may end up timing out.
