Curious as to what
HTC will be charging for its Sense-enabled
Desire? If Amazon's German portal is to be believed, it'll go for a cool €419 ($572). Of course, the site doesn't give any indication as to when it'll actually ship to those that order, but it
is clear that Amazon is doing the selling and not some third-party merchant. Just under six Benjamins for a
souped-up Nexus One? You know you're in for that.
[Thanks, Lars]
Update: We had a feeling this price was too good to be true and sure enough, Amazon.de now lists the Desire for a steeper €519 ($711), alongside the newly arrived Legend, which has shown up with a €459 ($629) asking price [Thanks, Sebastian].
listed at £499.99 SIM FREE on play.com with a release date of 12/04/2010, same price on expansays...
@azza88 its £449.99 not £499.99
@azza88 Damn 12-4-10? Ur kidding me right?? I rather get the nexus one today and get nexus two before desire even comes out lol that must be a typo
@Spillzz bit of confusion there? 12/04/2010 is the 12th of April. we do dates the other way in England!
@azza88 Wow how did I not see that lol thx for the info
that is a great price! I really consider preordering as I could imagine the price to go up again once it is launched.
It will be mine... Oh yes. It will be mine.
Many stores in Sweden have a price difference of just €25 between Legend and Desire.
I expected at least €80 in difference, Legend owners will pay a premium for the Aluminium case. .
Hmm...
iPhone 3GS: 7909 SEK
HTC Desire: 4944 SEK
Tough choice.
This will be the Nexus One killer.
pre-ordering done :)
if this came to the states nexus one owners would be pissed cause they just dropped $530 on the less sexier version.
another reason why its probably not is because of how google is selling the nexus one, I wonder if this will affect the nexus one going to europe
For those interested
It's also available on Expansys-USA and Expansys-UK
I'd rather buy from them since they have some reputation...
Plus the Expansys-UK one has a day count down listed...
I think it's a mistake because the price of the HD mini is 499 € but should be 419 €. So they just switcht prices!
I don't see why anybody in the US would import this.
1. It doesn't support AT&T nor T-Mobile's 3G. Unless you know you have wifi connectivity 24/7, do you really want to live with EDGE speed on a smartphone like this?
2. At that price, might as well get the Nexus One. At least you know you'll get T-Mo 3G and some customer support. I doubt HTC would care is something happens with the phone and you're in the US. Besides, Google might push updates and whatnot quicker on the N1, being it's their self-branded phone.
Someone correct me if Im wrong here... but it has the exact same Frequency Support as the Nexus One according to HTC's Product Page. Wouldn't that mean 3G works on Tmobile USA?
Just asking cause someone asked why anyone would want this phone in the USA.
@RevisionZero Troll much? Did you actually go to HTC's product page?
1. It's not listed in the US page, thus it's not going to be released in the US
2. It's in the Europe site, and it is listed as having a dual-band (900/2100) UMTS support, just as reported by Engadget and a ton of other sites. No AT&T (850) nor T-Mobile (1700) UMTS band.
Check it out: they also have the legend for Euro 459! http://www.amazon.de/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?__mk_de_DE=%C5M%C5Z%D5%D1&url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=htc+legend&x=0&y=0
I was thinking: "Unibody Tax"?
Apparently it is no longer to be found on the amazon.de site.
Searching for HTC Desire gives you no more hits, while the HTC Legend remains there with the price at 459€.
Hope you pre-orderers will be served with the original pricing.
@ottzen
I hope so too. Since I pre-ordered one. 419 Euro is the price the Hero was around christmas.
@mactron
Sorry to disappoint you, but this is straight from amazon.de's help section:
"Bitte beachten Sie, dass wir nicht an einen falschen Preis gebunden sind. Mit Ihrer Bestellung ist noch kein Kaufvertrag zu Stande gekommen."
Translation:
"Please note that we are not bound to erroneous prices. No contract came into existence with your (pre-)order yet."
Seems a bit overpriced, can get the Nexus One for ~£400 including all the shipping costs etc from Google.
They changed the price for the Desire to 519 now. Apparently it was a mistake

Umm....changed again!!

my preorder is still listed with 419€
some guy in the discussion forum phoned amazon and got the confirmation that the preordered phones will be charged with 419€.
