Though an absurd zoom range number is pretty much equally pointless.  <br><br>When can we highlight some numbers that relate to image quality?  Obviously compacts will always be handicapped by their smaller sensors, but within that limitation they could be doing much, much better than they are now in terms of IQ. I always thought the big selling point of these high end p&s superzooms is that it's supposed to be a camera for photo hobbyists that do not want to lug around a full dslr and camera bag.
