Pixel LV-WI Wireless Live View Remote Control: look out, family self-portraits
We've been live viewing our photos on our fancy new-gen DSLRs for a couple years now, even piping that live sensor data into our computer with a first party app, or, gasp, shooting video our magical newfangled cameras. But we haven't done this yet. Pixel Enterprise Limited has just announced its new LV-W1 Wireless Live View Remote Control, which beams a live DSLR view over that well-worn 2.4GHz channel to a handheld remote with a 3-inch 960 x 240 LCD. It seems like a great idea, and while the future might make even fancier dreams come true -- like a live WiFi 2, The Sequel-beamed image to our Windows Phone 8 Series handset, for instance -- but for now this $335 kit should provide for some pretty spectacular Canon or Nikon moments.

Well, actually...Ive been doing this for some time now, with a 3.5 in touchscreen device. You may have heard of it... the i- something?
Theres an app for that, and its called DSLR remote. But that little thing is cool too I guess. But for $335? Why not buy a an iPod touch...its cheaper, the app is $5 or $10, and then you also have an iTouch...
...makes sense to me
@Bhans
That app needs wifi, a laptop, and apple's "i" devices. Total cost = more than $300.
@Bhans
I was going to say that... and I'll say what you won't; on your iPhone! I've only recently bought the DSLR app since it now supports the Canon 7D and other newer cameras from Canon and Nikon.
However, I think this solution negates the need to tether your camera to a laptop, if that's the case it's definitely intriguing.
Now what would be even cooler is if some company produced a 2.4 GHz dongle that plugs into the camera directly and can transmit the images to your particular brand of smart phone (let's try to stay brand agnostic eh?) I know it's something that's requested of On One Software that do the DSLR remote.
@Bhans that's nice and all but that assumes you can tether particular DSLR cameras to your laptop...
there are models out there that dont have such features
@BachNg
Actually, you're wrong. DSLR Remote works with both Windows and Macs. Aside from the iPod Touch + App, there is nothing extra to buy.

@Vylen
From whatever information I was able to find, Pixel LV-WI supports LiveView mode only. This would make the device support to be limited compared to DSLR Remote app.
The iPhone/iPod Touch app supports more cameras via alternative protocols.
Where can I get one of those new-fangled Windows Phone 8 Series handsets?
I have some in my van. Wanna see?
Ummm, I hope someone from Sony and SE was paying attention. They have both DSLRs and cell-phone divisions, so getting it compatible would be a snap.
Someone call photoshopdisasters...
what the hells with that pasted puppy and flowers...
Off topic comment is off topic.
Wow this is really cool...though Live View still has some limitations. I know that when using Live View on my D90 it takes much longer to focus. I could see myself using this is some limited situations, however the cost puts this way out of reach.
I just don't see a huge market for this...
would be better off if they created a cheaper wireless dongle for the camera, which can be hooked up to the pc or laptop via a usb or wifi dongle.
This will be great for shooting odd perspectives if the remote has complete control over camera functions.
I like a chase scene with the camera mounted on the vehicle.
Now I can take picture of myself in every position :D
Am I right in assuming this only works on cameras that have normal Live View, this device doesn't add the functionality to cameras that otherwise wouldn't have it? I assume this as it seems to use the AV out from the camera, and I don't know of any other way that it could add the feature to cameras lacking Live View. If that is the case in most situations you'd be better of buying a cheap netbook and tethering the camera to that if possible, but I can see the uses for this if tethering isn't available or if you needed the wireless functionality.
OR!!.... You can do it the old fashioned way and learn how to take self picture, for a low cost of free.
p.s.
You cant use flash with this device, so its kind of pointless.
I'm digging the product page. Well designed.

I didn't know there were so many different ways to spell "wireless"
Looks a bit like this iPhone concept: http://www.spatialheadworks.com/2010/02/21/concept-digital-symbiosis/
960 x 240 LCD? Really?
