I have a DSLR but it's always not the most practical camera to cart around. I have 3 lenses, a bunch of filters and a tripod in my camera backpack. So I got the P90 for it's portability and zoom. My only complaint about the P90 and hopefully it's something that was addressed with the P100 is the inside ring on the lens is for aesthetic purposes only. I would really like to have a polarizer filter to slap on, but since the rings are just for show, there's no real filter available. Hopefully with the P100 they either did away with the faux ring, or have it so you can actually screw on filters.

Other than that, the P90 is an excellent little camera and not much different than the P100.

Pitchy

Comments on Nikon CoolPix P100 (and its articulating display) hands-on

@iTsMe99

I would.. but I cant stand anything with "easy" or "cool" in its name.

james

Comments on Nikon CoolPix P100 (and its articulating display) hands-on

The comments from the last coverage about the P100 were interesting:
http://www.engadget.com/2010/02/18/nikons-1080p-coolpix-p100-superzoom-up-for-pre-order-shipping/

The FinePix HS10 might be the better choice...

Indyaner

Comments on Nikon CoolPix P100 (and its articulating display) hands-on

Do you guys have ANY idea how close to the Sony HX-1 this thing looks? The Canon SX10 has been the King of the Superzooms for quite some time (even Canon has failed twice to match it) and Nikon isn't exactly known for their prowess when it comes to pinhead sensor cameras, so it's not exactly a surprise. Seems like a wall has been hit in terms of the technological innovation possible given the limitations of the design.

FatDrunkAndStupid

Comments on Nikon CoolPix P100 (and its articulating display) hands-on

@FatDrunkAndStupid
Ok so let's say I'm in the market for a camera, you'd warrant getting the SX-10 would fit in everyway?

PS: I are camera nubz

airbag888

Comments on Nikon CoolPix P100 (and its articulating display) hands-on

@airbag888

SX-10 is the best image quality of the Superzooms, but no HD video. If image quality is your highest priority, and you are in the market for a Superzoom, that's your best bet. The SX-20 has slightly worse image quality, but it has HD video. So if you want a Superzoom with good image quality (but not absolute best) and HD video look at SX-20 or Panisonic's Superzoom. Superzoom is a niche market though. If you don't need all that Zoom, the latest G-series from Canon has even better image quality in a smaller body albeit without the massive zoom. If you just want regular compact camera, Canon makes best. If you want DSLR, Canon and Nikon are about equal.

FatDrunkAndStupid

Comments on Nikon CoolPix P100 (and its articulating display) hands-on

The photos and specs speed my pulse up a bit.
