We thought it was a gonner. I opened it up, dried it all out and let it sit in a tub of rice for a day. After a few attempts it finally booted up on Sunday night and looks to be alive. I about lost a laptop to two cats playing with a cup of tea and a laptop on a tv table. Cats were rolling around and hit the table and tea hit the front part of the laptop. Tore it apart and the fluid didn't get past the outer housing. Even an old one.

I spilled like a 2 liter of coke on mine a year ago, and was sure it was destroyed, but it never even flickered. The coke just went right through the machine. They had a pan under the keyboard and something like a funnel that sent it all right through the laptop without getting a droplet on the circuitry. I removed the keyboard and cleaned it (not perfectly, but it works with a little inner stick). That machine is used heavily even today, with no problems.

I am sure competitors also offer spill solutions in their design. If you are using a lappy at home, it's a good thing to have.

I've also dropped this ugly laptop on pavement without doing anything but making it a little uglier. IF this laptop is around the $900 dollar range it'd be a lot more viable to people. In order for it to be a valid option to me it NEEDS to be no more than $900. I know it's sort of a netbook, but for someone aware of it's existence it's a very attractive alternative to something like this.

trevoreon
