I would like to know how the editors voted the iPhone 3GS as smartphone of the year over the droid? Though I trust the editor's picks more (due to the popularity contest that is the reader's awards sections), I'm pleasantly surprised to see variety in both lists. Apple products didn't win every category as some believed (again, popularity contest argument is nullified). And I really like a lot of the picks in both lists, with much consistency between them. To some extent, lists like these don't really make sense. A device may be swell for most people, but not fit what you're looking for. Personal preference always wins over what other people think.

I tend to agree, especially since I strictly use a PMP for music and a Smartphone for apps, I think the Zune HD completely destroys the iPod Touch.

The Zune HD is the best PMP I've ever used, and I own both a 32GB Zune HD and an 8GB iPod Touch (2G). A slight CPU bump wasn't enough for me so I opted for the Zune over the iPod Touch and haven't looked back. While I agree that the iPod touch 3G was a lazy update, but the processor and larger memory were not the only things updated. For those that don't think it works outside due to the OLED screen, I have kept mine on max brightness level (which looks gorgeous btw) and didn't even realize this was a complaint about OLED screens until I read about it on here. Clearly some of you who think this is a huge issue just haven't used the device.
