Even the fastest storage mediums are still barely approaching the 3.0 Gbps speed. The beauty of USB 3.0, compared to eSATA is that you don't need an external power source all the time. Portable drives will get internal power but Desktop external not likely. unless desktop drive consumption goes below 1A. So not the best it can be.
