It's almost pointless, if not total shite.

Pros
- Imeem: Gone.
- Touchscreen bug (where an area would become unresponsive, solved with two Menu clicks): (Apparently) Fixed.
- GPS faster: Kinda? Maybe? (On a related note, the "Red Hole" on maps now has a proper Google logo.)

Cons
- The remaining "permanent" apps? Ya, still effing permanent. =|
- Whatever adjustments were made to the touchscreen software have made it horribly slow responding (my "workaround" was turning on haptic feedback so I know what key presses are registering)
- SD card has been reported as "damaged" twice (mounting card via USB/inserting into card reader solves that. Could be bad card but the timing makes that possibility suspect.)
- SMS-related performance has tanked.

The only thing I can offer is that the claimed improvement in battery life came by way of adding/tweaking some demand-based CPU feature that has back-fired and undermined overall performance of an already handicapped device (since MOTOBLUR creates permanent overhead that cannot be turned off.)

As other commenters have noted, some people are getting a time issue that may be unrecoverable. Fortunately, I have not experienced that... Yet.

I'm really beginning to wonder if this isn't becoming a class action level clusterf**k of issues. Or at least a well-deserved place in the Hall Of Shame between the Ford Pinto and New Coke.

scott

Comments on Motorola CLIQ updated, Android 2.1 still MIA

Wanted to add another "Con"

- CAN'T FCKNG TURN OFF MY PHONE! The last I heard, the Cliq was supposed to get 2.1 mid too late March. Is that that same date everyone else heard too? Well I Hope it's true, if it is us Cliq users will have 2.1 very soon. I'm crossing my fingers but not holding my breath. lol

Patrick

Comments on Motorola CLIQ updated, Android 2.1 still MIA

Just realised, I got a cliq for my 18th birthday (22nd February 2010). I updated it right there in the store, got 2 updates, must have been the one here, couldn't have turned 18 at a better time! Got 2 G1's, a Cliq and a Tattoo. Me and my girlfriend are both android fans :D
I'm so surprised that the hacking community can't get 1.6 or 2.0/2.1 on the cliq! I know there are driver issues, but there were/are with the G1 (especially with 2.1), and they seemed to get solved pretty quickly. I'd help myself if I had an idea of where to start!

Ash.Rossy
