Unlike the nook, the Alex's LCD seems slapped on rather than a useful and integrated part of the experience.  As for the iPad, it's less functional than a netbook--but with a comparable battery life and an LCD screeen--not what I'd call an ideal eReader. If I had to get a tablet I'd wait for the Notion Ink Adam (in absence of the Courier). But then again none of these things are good for anything other than the most basic functions like Internet browsing or looking at photos.
