People weren't as focused, demanding and waiting for the iPhone for years. That's the case with the iPad, so to say that demand is higher, which leads anyone without further analysis to think it will outsell the iPhone, is not making a good Apple comparison. Non-fanboys are hip to Apple's routine and disappointed in all the features that were left out, however, if the iPad has any tricks up it's sleeve then it has potential to beat estimates. If not, then they will be relying on soccer moms and the like to be the buyers, the exact people that didn't adopt the iPhone in the 1st Gen.

I believe Apple can make a compelling case for a tablet, this iPad, as we know it in its current form, isn't it. The iPhone's success story is one of a world woke up to what Apple had after the people in the know showed them, all the while Apple getting developers on board and revolutionizing the device as a portable gaming device, in addition to the other apps and built-in features. Apple will need a similar wave of change with this device, in my opinion of course, and that could be with the case of killer apps like NetFlix, Hulu or HTML5 taking them over (I don't see either yet because of DRM issues), portable gaming to the next level, or something people just aren't predicting yet. Remember, $630 plus $30 a month (free if primarily used as a home device) is what is required to mostly duplicate, and in many cases enhance, the features the iPhone brings.

juanvaldez

Comments on Survey finds initial iPad demand to be greater than initial iPhone demand

@Javindo I KNOW PEOPLE THAT REPLIED TO SURVEYS FOR HOW WELL THEIR APPLE PRODUCT WAS. Right up until I found out it wouldn't support Flash, multitasking, or have a camera. Honestly, none of them are really that big of an issue to me, but paying that much for a device thats missing some key features such as these, especially when theres actually A SPOT FOR THE CAMERA, just doesnt sit well with me.
