To a similar poll I also answered that I would buy a tablet pc as soon as I could grab one, but I meant the Dell 5" or one (possibly running Android) with flash support, and 3G cellular connections, I would'nt use an iPad even if I could have it for free, I would keep using my netbook teathered to my HD2 via the inbuilt wifi router.

I believe Apple can make a compelling case for a tablet, this iPad, as we know it in its current form, isn't it. The iPhone's success story is one of a world woke up to what Apple had after the people in the know showed them, all the while Apple getting developers on board and revolutionizing the device as a portable gaming device, in addition to the other apps and built-in features. Apple will need a similar wave of change with this device, in my opinion of course, and that could be with the case of killer apps like NetFlix, Hulu or HTML5 taking them over (I don't see either yet because of DRM issues), portable gaming to the next level, or something people just aren't predicting yet. Look a Netbook can only runs programs made to run on Windows an iPad can only run Apps made for iPad. They both are stupid concepts in my opinion but the netbook has a better place in the world than the iPad. I can do everything that an iPad can do with programs on a Netbook. But an iPad can not do everything a netbook can (IE MS Office, run full iTunes, edit movies.)

Right up until I found out it wouldn't support Flash, multitasking, or have a camera. Honestly, none of them are really that big of an issue to me, but paying that much for a device thats missing some key features such as these, especially when theres actually A SPOT FOR THE CAMERA, just doesnt sit well with me. I might pick one up on second or third gen if they fix it up a bit, but I'm not gonna line Jobs' pockets in return for a half-finished product like the rest of the herd. I think you're completely wrong. Once in a potential buyer's hands, Apple products have an EXTREMELY high "omg this thing is sooooo sexy. MUST. HAVE. NOW" factor. Very rarely do people desire an Apple product less, after touching it.

While it's not OLED, I'm willing to be that the iPad has a VERY nice screen, and it's all shiny and stuff. For fanboys, sure. But to the average buyer, they may find its impracticality not worth the money. Chances are, the buyers already have an iPod Touch or iPhone and might say, "Why would I need this, it doesn't really add much more utility as it is just like what I already have but larger."

Whenever I visit a computer shop I poke around products on display, and often the apple products. Never have I gotten the feeling OMG, I gotta buy this. Mostly I get the feeling, OMG, this is annoying. Somehow all apple mice have rubbed me the wrong way, for one example. Dashboard gives me hives.

I like the looks of the apple products, usually, but then theres the apple philosophy of doing things differently, just for being different, not better. It's like french cars. You are 100% correct. But the survey in question is comparing what people said they would do ahead of time with the iPhone and what people are saying they will do before the iPad comes out. The article above represents apples to apples (in terms of timeframe). You're point, I assume, is that apples are worthless.

People know what the iPad will do, they've seen and used an iPhone, so the iPad is not completely foreign to them (as the iPhone was before it hit the market).
