@rederikus, the company is called 'Apple' and they may be 'inferiour' to Windows, but many will dispute that it's inferior, assuming that's what you meant.

@Oflife, Windows Phone 7 seems like a completely new concept to previous OS's such as Android and iPhone OS, and I can't see this concept being beaten anytime soon.

On topic - the sooner the better, Windows Phone 7 Series totally shocked me, and I can't wait to get my hands on a handset!

Problem is that they are limiting themselves by their own stupidity. Unless they add multitasking or a flash player, they will fall behind the other tech coming out. Since the WPZune7Series is trying to redefine what an 'App' is to hide the fact that, WinMo doesn't really hold a candle to the App Store, eh.. I'm guessing Apple could keep shipping the 3GS for another 5 years without much to worry about.

When you think about it, though, seriously, Apple has been sitting around doing nothing for about 2 years. The 3GS was just a spec bump over the original iPhone, so it makes you think, what the hell have they got in store for June?

Hard to see win 7 do well. The only hope is xbox live. Zune is pretty much a certifiably failed format and no one cares about that ecosystem. Xbox live on the other hand is great.

I believe the new win 7 UI will work with the xbox user community. It'll be too exotic for the regular folk. It needs a user to think like win phone 7. Not the usual find, click and launch approach. win 6.5 already had many aspects of the zune user experience. So at least we know that's a loser. Microsoft was claiming win 6.5 browser was superior to iPhone. We know that isn't true . I say this as someone who believed the hype and got a tilt2. It was one of the worst decisions...msft is yet to prove they can create a good mobile ui. Win 7 works because it refines vista which borrows it's core usability theme from Mac. Android works because it adds good stuff to the proven iPhone ui. Msft surface is strugling because the ui sucks! I saw a demo a few weeks ago. It was totally non intuitive. I agree that it will probably work for the Xbox community, but I don't think it's too exotic for the 'regular folk'. The UI concept is a mobile take pn the same cross bar idea that Microsoft has been working with since the days of Win XP Media Center, and refining ever since.

Also Sony fans will be familiar with the concept as their long running XMB interface is very similar.

I suspect that 'regular folks' will figure it out pretty quickly, especially since the design of the interface is such that it actually encourages you to pan around, since information (graphics and text) bleed from the edge of the screen.

first thing I did on my tilt2 was to remove the 'horrible HTC 3d sense ui. The default win mo 6.5 start screen is almost identical to the zune! From there the navigation is also very similar.

I can see the zune and hd2 would appeal to the same crowd. A small niche. Not mainstream users. So you're the target market for win phone 7. Agreed. I've got a Touch Pro 2 on Verizon running WinMo 6.5, while not amazing it definitely works well, and I particularly enjoy using Opera Mobile 10 beta.

What makes you say the Zune ecosystem is a failed one? While it may not have the adoption of iTunes, everyone I know who has gone Zune has been very happy and hasn't looked back. Hell I know people who still use a Zune 30 and are quite happy with them. If Microsoft would actually advertise Zune and get it into the public eye more, I think we'd see a noticeable amount of people switch. At this point I doubt Microsoft will try to advertise the Zune device itself, but they'll probably start to push the Zune service more when Windows Phone 7 devices become available.
