Taking notes with a virtual keyboard only sucks, because I can do the same with my trusty notebook, only better (real keyboard and stuff...). But it's not enough, I keep some paper-based notebooks near, to write down equations, graphs, diagrams, etc...<br>Taking notes with a real keyboard and a stylus-enabled touchscreen on the other hand would be awesome. I type what I have to type, then if I need to draw something, I just whip out the stylus and draw it.<br>Also, capacitive is last decade too. Resistitive touchscreen is not enough for taking notes. Tm2 by HP is the only one laptop for taking notes with a good battery life, multitouch that cost less than a 1000$. Don't say you need a resistive screen in order to accept stylus input. HP has managed to do tablets with capacitive multitouch displays with active digitizers for 950. Also, if you've ever tried writing on a resistive display, it's horrid. Active digitizers by Wacom are an ABSOLUTE must to prevent the issues of vectoring in addition to pressure sensitivity. A slightly higher rez screen and touch-controls are not exactly cutting-edge or extremely expensive add-ons now a days.  A 1.3Ghz Atom is not some high-end chip and no mention of RAM or storage space. Once Apple disclosed the iPad, PC makers would start tossing out TONS of tablets/tablet-like PC's. I'm sure only a SELECT few will make the cut. Slapping together components doesn't equal a good PC- as well all know. Hopefully this won't be tossed to the wayside like most of them, it would be a waste of time and money. It sure is easy to see an Apple hater these days.<br>AGAIN- I wasn't saying that Apple was the inventor of tablets etc (although it could be argued about the newton). What I am saying is that with all the hubbub before and after the iPad announcement, PC manufacturers want to capitalize on the popularity of tablets- Apple was just the fuel for the popularity.<br><br>And while tablets have been out for years- they've been met little or no recognition because  they lack quality/speed(which decreases usefulness)/worthless OS's. <br><br>Why do you think people were so excited about Apple tablet rumors? I'm pretty sure it's because people would like to have a tablet and they believed Apple MIGHT possibly have the goods to finally deliver a tablet platform worth buying.<br><br>To this day I haven't used a tablet (and I've tried a few) that I've enjoyed my experience on. Paper notes can get lost/torn/otherwise damaged.  I prefer a digital copy.  I can get a file and upload it to a site quite easily. The $699 price must be for the base model, which isn't that impressive.  There aren't very many multi-touch netbooks or "netvertibles" so I think that Viliv and Dynamism are trying to make some money.  There aren't many choices, but there will be more this year.<br><br>Asus might be the company that brings the prices down.
