Oh,
nanotechnology -- your wonders never cease. Boffins at
Imperial College London have been able to use live nanoscale microscopy (a technique called scanning ion conductance microscopy) in order to see the surface of the cardiac muscle cell at more detailed levels than those possible using conventional live microscopy. Without getting too gross on you, the new process could lead to improved designs of beta-blockers, the drugs that can retard the development of heart failure. Researchers are hoping that the findings could also lead to "improvements in current therapeutic approaches to treating heart failure and abnormal heart rhythms," and while these exceptionally detailed images are helping the cardiac muscle right now, we're hoping that this stuff could also bleed over to other fields of medicine. Ventricles crossed!
Sweet, now if we could only clone ourselves we'd be all set :D
@shukero You're that much of a virgin?
@jfally
If you have sex with your clone, is it masturbation or sodomy?
I find the news heartening. :s
My heartfelt thanks. :o
I know, very corny. :)
nano tech, how about they let my netbook play 1080p first
@BrownSound
The HP Mini 311 already can.
Besides, wouldn't you want to be alive with a functioning heart? That way you can watch 1080P content.
This is why I continue to drink energy drinks...By the time my heart gives out, they will probably have cheap artificial replacements that are better than the real thing.
@Nitesh
Soon they'll be giving out a free artificial heart with the purchase of a 24-pack of red bull.
ground beef?
@(Unverified)
great beef should be more red, it looks like ground pork to me.
This news warms the cockles of my heart.
@Spiky haired boy
....that wasn't the news. Seek medical attention.
IMMEDIATELY.
@Spiky haired boy
This news warms the heart of my cockle.
Call me.
so basically its AFM, except it specifically focuses on mapping ion currents versus strict topography. the article is good, the blurb from the college is bad.
Man, i dont want to be rude here, but the real problem is focusing on spreading medical breaktroughs among most of the population , i dont care if they can supercharge your brain or if they can give you a new heart, because there is still people dying of simple diseases such as flu or polio!, are we such snobs that we cannot realize this?
