If I were you, I'd just buy a proper Windows Netbook instead - it would cost you less and I'm certain the experience will be a lot better. I really do not see a touch interface layered onto an OS and applications that expect a keyboard and mouse working very well on a tablet. Still, typing out anything longer than a quick comment is a PITA with any onscreen keyboard compared to even a crappy physical board, so I'd recommend a convertible tablet over a slate any day. Best of both worlds. It doesn't work as well as a device that is 100% designed for touch and it never will. If I was looking for the best desktop OS then Windows 7 might well be it (I'm still stuck on XP at work) but it isn't the best OS to put on a tablet or other touch device and that's simply because the applications running on it almost certainly were never designed for a touch interface. Apple's tablet is supposed to be half an inch, or 1,34 cm, so adding another 0,66 cm isn't that much of a difference. The device is still less than an inch thick.
