That sucks.  Although I will say the new software on the DirecTV DVRs is worlds past what they had when they had a partnership with Tivo.  The Flash is interesting though. I refuse to pay another monthly bill.  I'd pay for the lifetime subscription, but I want 2 boxes.  Last time I looked, they want you to buy one lifetime subscription for $300, then pay an additional amount ($150 or something?) for a 'lifetime' subscription for the 2nd box.<br><br>Sorry, TiVo, but I'm not interested in shelling out well over $1000 for 2 DVRs.  The service pricing is keeping a lot of customers like myself away. I am a TiVo subscriber, and I would have imagined that the cost of entry would be the real barrier, not, as you said, the "service pricing."<br><br>I imagine it's different in every area of the country, but I'd be curious as to what you pay for your DVR rental and your DVR service (which are usually two separate charges from your cable company.)  I have Comcast in NJ (just outside NYC) and the cost for a DVR and service is $15.  My monthly TiVo subscription costs only $13.86 - and that's month-to-month.  So, my cable company is actually MORE expensive.<br><br>Ans as far as the "single bill" thing - well I guess to each his own... but to snub a clearly superior experience simply because the charge would be  handled separately on your credit card seems a little silly.  Set it as auto pay and forget it. They don't understand why the fee exists, and they don't understand how much better TiVo is than cable/sat DVR boxes.<br><br>Pay the lifetime subscription and you're good to go.  It's pricey at first, there's no doubt about that, but considering all the fees associated with cable DVRs, it's well worth it.  The experience is just so much better, smoother, faster, and enjoyable than it is with a cable DVR.
