If you ISF calibrate your TV, the change in black level completely invalidates that calibration -- which you paid $300 or so for.

Even if you don't calibrate, your greyscale goes out the window on a schedule. It's a horrible design decision by Panasonic, and a total deal killer for anyone interested in accurate display.

Yea that rising black level concerns me. A Panny plasma was at the top of my list of sets to get but now I am in wait mode. I can't believe people are concerned with the black level issue. It's essentially like buying a Kia over a Porsche (assuming equal cost) because the Porsche loses 5HP over time. I completely agree... Can't compare Panasonic quality to other brands. Panasonic is such a big name in home theater and a lot of people can't get past that. I loved Pioneer, but they are gone. I live in CO (high altitude). So there are little to no Plasma TV's sold up here because the risk of them going out. Plasmas are pretty great TV's but, what turns me off is that they aren't suitable for all altitudes. If you happen to move from one state to another knowing that your TV's lifespan could be severely decreased depending on where you live has always been a turn off for me with this technology.

Friend just bought a 65" v10 in Denver 3 months ago and he's been in love since. The elevation problem is not that big an issue like the others have said to a certain elevation. go troll somewhere else. Every manufacturer has their issues. I can't even begin to tell you some of the things I go through as a home theater installer... Out of the hundreds or so Panasonics I've sold and installed, I have yet to get a call from a customer complaining about the issue. I understand there are some individuals out there, and equally understand their frustrations. However, don't knock a company on a small percentage of defective products. They dropped 24p playback completely on the G10. G10/15 would playback 24p but at a low 48fps causing flicker. So they didn't upgrade the G10's 24p playback which was only 48 hrz (which caused flicker), they simply eliminated the option altogether. I was really hoping they would give the G20 the 24p playback of the V10 which was at 96 hrz.

Add decent 24p source handling to your G series already! Or sell a 42" V series in the States. I can't fit anything bigger than 42" and a TV than can't display a Bluray's native format is retarded.

The 50 panels costed $2000 and the 65's were prob around $4000. At that price, we do not expect a RAPID jump. Some people just don't get it. Even after CNET did a real world viewing comparison of 2 differently aged panels and posted their observations.
