The original deal they worked out with the cable companies involved using tru2way, and the cable companies have reneged on the promised they made to everybody on the rollout of tru2way. Even if they included it, you wouldn't be able to use it anyway until your local provider rolled out tru2way support. I assume Tivo not adopting this won't be the only impact. I assume all the tru2way promises that were made by the cable cos to Panasonic et al to get them to produce tru2way sets will also start to show up there as well. I can't imagine those companies are going forward with any future plans to build tru2way sets. It looks like Panasonic is going to a model where they're going to support CableCards only via an external box. Sure it'll be a Panasonic box, not one you rent from your cable co. But you'll have to buy it and add it to your setup, etc. And even that will be dead soon if the cablecos don't get their shit together.

Fanfoot

Comments on

Oh and what does Comcast have to say about using their trademark logo in a demo like this? Too bad. I'm not personally that upset, but my wife always liked the CableCo VOD access we used to have, and would probably use it if it were available.
