Yup, at the start I freeked out when is realised i'd made the horrible mistake of having my 3G in with keys and coins, only to eventually realise it was causing no damage to the screen,

Same. I still have the iPhone 3G and Ive accidently dropped it heaps of times over the last 18 months.. On wood, concrete, kitchen tiles and it still looks good to me. I think the nexus one might have needed a few more months of testing before launch.. This isn't something a software update can fix!!
