Toss a Snapdragon in there (because we all know webOS needs that to perform all buttery smooth-like) Bigger screen, smaller gesture area to accomodate the screen, throw an on screen keyboard in. Make webOS more responsive to the accelerometer. Throw a better browser into it, preferably Opera or Fennecfox. But for the most part they need to rapidly expand their App Catalog because lord knows an average of 10 new apps a day is lackluster to say the least.

And if the mythical C40 handset doesn't save them, they need to license webOS out. And it would be kind of weird for a device that is completely built on webkit to not use its own browser. I would also vehemently disagree with the licensing. It would be one thing to farm out production of a Palm spec phone to another manufacturer. But I don't like the idea of licensing it out so HTC can make whatever they want (unless that's not what you meant). Cause that's a freaking disaster waiting to happen. Android-style. Ha.

I do agree with everything else. I understand that every Palm device will probably have a keyboard but I'd love to see a nice onscreen keyboard with no physical one. I just want to see a different browser because the current one messes up all too often, the checkerboard bugginess etc. And if they were to license it out, I would hope they pull a WP7S by having strict qualifications, like a mandatory gesture area obviously and so on. I would hope they don't have to go there because I do believe webOS has the potential to go far, just not on the Pre or Pixi (or their plus counterparts') hardware. Personally I find the Pre form factor disgusting anyway. It's like the Motorala PEBL (remember that?!) except a slider.

What they need to do with the C40 to succeed is not only provide innovative hardware to match the software, but a truly beautiful form factor. One that makes customers automatically wonder who it's made by and then the name Palm will start popping back into people's heads with respect like they had ages ago. If they do decide to go the slate route they need something better than the arrow to navigate around words though, they need something to rival the iPhone's magnifying glass feature (which I personally find incredibly useful and beautifully implemented).

And while I'm rambling I'd like to add how atrocious scrolling is compared to the iPhone. It makes me jealous every time i see my brother scroll!

anus1220

Comments on How would you change Palm's Pre Plus and Pixi Plus?

MicroSD
...that is all

CamronCake

Comments on How would you change Palm's Pre Plus and Pixi Plus?

@camroncake Make it GSM and have it unlocked.

ToniCipriani

Comments on How would you change Palm's Pre Plus and Pixi Plus?

1. 800 x 400 screen
2. software keyboard only (thinner and simpler hardware, also allowing faster international keyboard support)
3. microsd
4.
