And the idea of "collectible" limited edition electronics with "certificates of authenticity" is so absurd as to be almost insulting.

With this one at only 10 lumens, it's pretty dim. The Aaxa laser projector has 20 lumens, and that makes a big difference. It also has VGA connector standard, and has better resolution to boot. At this point if I were shelling out for a laser projector, it'd be the Aaxa L1.

But at this point, while laser pico projectors definitely have advantages over the LED varieties, I don't think the price difference can be justified just yet. LED projectors are about half the price for the same brightness, and while the colors might not be as rich and it may be more difficult to scale the size and focus, it's just not that big a deal. I'll get a laser pico when the lumens get to about 50, and when the price gets to about $300. Until then, I'm going to have to stick with my Dell m109s, flawed though it may be.

n8

Comments on Microvision's Show WX laser pico projector available to buy today, will ship March 24

@weatherman All valid points. 10 lumens is pretty poor and the Aaxa laser pici is better value as it's cheaper and has 20 lumens.

I'm still using a lcos pico with screensplittr and Air Video on an Iphone to stream movies from my media server onto the bedroom ceiling. Mine has 10 lumens and it's fine for us in a pretty dark room at a distance of around 8 feet giving an approx 70 inch screen. If you want to go bigger or use in a less dark room you need more lumens,

Also, the one I have (The Wowee Cinemax) is the only one that has a design feature that allows you to prohect straight up by just flipping the head of the device.
