I was thinking the same thing. I have a 85mm f 1.8 prime lens for my DSLR, but my previous digicam only had a f 3.5 lens and it sucked at lower light pictures.

I would like to see this have a 10x or 12x zoom on it however. I'm not sure even the f/1.8 is the big news on this one - what impresses me is that it looks like it's f/2.4 at 3x zoom, which is pretty impressive. The S90 drops quite fast to f/4.9 at 3x zoom, so that's a pretty big advantage for the TL500.

From the picture it looks like they nicked the idea of a control ring around the lens from the S90 too, which is a great move. It's such an incredibly useful tool, makes the S90 actually *easier* to control manually than most DSLRs.

I love my S90, but if I hadn't bought it, it'd be pretty hard to ignore this thing. I just bought a Canon S90 and that F2.0 lens has made far more of an impact on the quality of my photography than any jump in megapixels ever did. I can shoot on the street at night with no flash and ISO 200, handheld. I can also get the shallow depth of field that has always been impossible with pocket cameras.
