It failed in the 50's and it's going to fail now, it's a 2D picture projected off the screen, it's not even "True 3D". Call me when I can walk around my TV and actually see a person front, side back, and top. Then you can tell me you have a 3D TV, till then, NO.

When you use it right, 3D can make a cool visual absolutely orgasmic. It's merely some extra flair for the movie and doesn't really help tell the story, but in terms of visuals, it makes 2D video look and feel flat and dimensionless. Avatar was essentially a 162 minute eye orgasm in 3D.
