Your best bet though is to sell the Eris soon on craigslist. Most consumers will jump at buying a used or "like new" Eris with a valid ESN off craigslist for $250 or so so they dont have to extend their own contract or for whatever reason.. I've sold plenty of phones this way. Verizon / ATT ect do not have anything to do with it.  N1 phones are made to be compatible with specific networks, but not sold BY those networks.
