It's a smart (and cheap) way of going about this, but at the same time, it will probably be WAY more limiting than Natal. If they under-cut the price of Natal, they might be able to get a decent amount of sales out of this before people see it's limitations (just like how everyone rushed to get a Wii, but now anyone that's used one sees how imprecise it is).

The device using only ~2MBs of RAM sounds about right since it's essentially a light tracker using a camera (with probably some accelerometer data mixed in) - not exactly the most computationally demanding job.

Hazdaz

Comments on PlayStation Move requires only 2MB of RAM, developers breathe sigh of relief

@Hazdaz
in what way will it be a lot more limiting then the natal? both have its advantage and disadvantage one uses not controllers which I think will be inaccurate at times and another uses controllers with a light which gives the camera the easy ability to identify the user.

im looking forward to what Move and Natal brings to hd gaming. I think the games be a lot more fun when developers have a lot more space and flexibity to work with then on the wii. plus not as strict and both companies will push developers to create better games because they want it to sell.

I cant judge right now on which is better but from the information thats out now I just think Move will have a bigger advantage over Matal because of the physical controllers will give a longer lasting appeal then nothing in your hand which I think limits on what developers can do with natal. To me seems like microsoft is hyping up the wrong thing. I think microsoft will come out with a similiar concept as Move if they want to compete.

in the future I see both the 360 and PS3 bundling with the console if they want this to be successful.

Johnny

Comments on PlayStation Move requires only 2MB of RAM, developers breathe sigh of relief

@fusionspill

sorry I have an error

I wanted to say
"both have its advantage and disadvantage one does not use controllers"

Johnny

Comments on PlayStation Move requires only 2MB of RAM, developers breathe sigh of relief

@fusionspill Although I'm particularly looking forward to natal not for gaming reasons but for the other benefits like face recognition and being able to move through the dashboard without a controller as I use my xbox more for media as opposed to gaming.

Jonas P

Comments on PlayStation Move requires only 2MB of RAM, developers breathe sigh of relief

@Jonas P

I was thinking of the same exact thing that people would most likely be using natal for navigation more then gaming. which I think will be cool. im sure the eye has the same ability so well see where this takes us. its going to be interesting what developers can come up with other then gaming.

Johnny

Comments on PlayStation Move requires only 2MB of RAM, developers breathe sigh of relief

The linked article is too old to comment on, but it should be 256MB, not 512 :-P

Nitesh

Comments on PlayStation Move requires only 2MB of RAM, developers breathe sigh of relief

@Nitesh * the article for XDR memory*

Nitesh

Comments on PlayStation Move requires only 2MB of RAM, developers breathe sigh of relief

These aren't the sexiest looking things in the world but I have to say that the potential fun factor that will stem from it will be amazing.
