Ok, stop geeking out...never said anything about testing these things. All im saying is that I barely had room for my DDR3 @1333MHz and my CPU cooler... If the heatsinks were any taller they would not have fit.
Huge ass heatsinks are not needed for ram.. modest ones yes.. If you look at a motherboard, the ram slots are close to where the cpu is. An aftermarket cpu cooler can be rather large. Some motherboards have the ram closer to the cpu than others like my old pc build does. So in my particular case, having large fins on my ram will just block an aftermarket cooler by the nearest slot.
