The DSi is way too young to be already kicked off the stage. 'Nuff said. They certainly weren't the first (at least with their portables) to do this, not that it actually matters who was first.  Thus, there was no real need bring Apple into your comment, it was a rather pointless and not well thought out reply, inviting a flame war, which lcuky hasn't happened (yes, I know this reply is no better).<br>Anway, you seem fairly intelligent, or a least sensible, so I won't berate you, just say a little extra research wouldn't go amiss. This seems to have become a Nintendo handheld tradition: I call it one-generation backward compatibility.  The original DS played all DS and GBA games, but no Game Boy or Game Boy Color games, and the DSi plays all DSi and DS games. Instead of the ARM9 at 67MHz and a ARM7 at 33, you would have the Tegra 2 which houses two Cortex A9 cores, which can supposedly ramp up to 2GHz. Looking at things now, calling it the GameBoy DS would have likely turned off new gamers to the system (people know what GameBoy was, and might already have registered opinions about it), and given it's been known as the DS since 2004, so nearly 6 years, that would be a lot of backtracking and potentially confusing to the casual market if they were to suddenly name the successor with the GameBoy branding. It would be a very stupid move considering the DS is still selling really well. But will they remain aimed at a wider audience that spends less money, or go for a much slimmer but higher paying crowd? I think it's the former, simply because they can make more money that way.<br>But with the 'DS2', I wonder if it'll so much more powerful than the DS, and if so, will that mean a change in games (as far as genre goes), or will they try and retain their current audience?<br>Will Sony/Microsoft jump into the ring with something new?
