Student-made Xbox 360 laptop channels the Heck out of... well, you know
Few can build 'em like Benjamin Heckendorn. Fewer still bother to try. Two college kids managed to do a bang-up job anyhow building this fully loaded, Jasper-juiced Xbox 360 laptop. With a built-in 17-inch Gateway monitor, keyboard, functioning Xbox Live camera and Wireless Network Adapter, this brick hits all the right notes -- yet remains remarkably stylish for a learn-as-you-go student project. If you agree, you can read a remarkably detailed account of how they built it at the source link, see a proof-of-completion video after the break, or even further their education by purchasing the mean machine on eBay for your very own.

Definitely a nice lookin mod- even if it is an xbox 360;). Good job.
$2,000? Not worth it. It doesn't have a battery sooo you can't take it anywhere. You also can't hook it up to your tv (yea i know vga... lol). You have to sit down in a chair and stare at the screen in front of you. Why would anyone buy this?
@Brent1700 yeah i hate sitting in chairs and staring at screens! this is stupid!
@Brent1700 DUDE. its not about whether its ideal or not, its the fact its custom built, pretty nicely btw, and the fact that its all in one! id say pretty impressive! theoretically u can take this in a backpack, plug it in and play xbox in starbucks! hah. not ideal, but VERY cool! plus, they gotta charge at lest that much to make it worth it. im sure itll sell. im jus too cheap to buy it hhah
@Brent1700
Just buy a UPS and carry it around with you.
@DougieBear
that would only probably more than double the weight and only give you like 20 minutes lol
@kojo87 LOL +1
Ben Heck has once again modded and made another Xbox 360 Laptop. This times he has added some improvements to his older models by including the new Xbox 360 Jasper Motherboard. He has also included a flush CD Drive, an IR port for use with the Xbox 360 remote, and an overall sleeker look. It is really looking very nice.

@bentonbrown
Dude... seriously?
Awesome for a Proof of Concept, but I would have thought they could get it slimmer.
It's not meant to be that practical. It's a modification. It's honestly just made for fun/enthusiasts. And according to this... this isn't Ben Heck. Two college students put it together. Nice job guys. I know I can't build that.
@EGamerHDK
They are selling it on ebay for 2000$ so I don't know about the "just made for fu"n part...

@Artanis I'm sure they didn't do it just for the money though.
@Artanis They probably spent around $1000 on parts, and if they had been working at a job instead of building this, they could've easily made another $500-$1000. It's not unreasonable for them to ask that much, it's just unreasonable for most people to pay it.
Warranty definitely void.
@Teslanaut lol that's the first thing I thought of!
Hopefully they remembered the button to connect wireless controllers...otherwise, you're screwed.
Perhaps the days of Dr Sinclair will rise again.. ;)
Tripod, tripod, tripod, tripod....
Why must almost every video thats interesting to see be made by someone who didnt get a tripod for the camera? Love the hack but it would be so much nicer to see the vid if it wasnt so much blurriness on it..
Does it really need to have a keyboard? I mean if the XBox did have an internet browser, then it could be worth it as you do need to type a lot. For the Xbox though, wouldn't you be talking most of the time as it is way easier and quicker.
The tags made me laugh
Do you think the guys gonna get banned since he modded his xbox?
Awesome Bro :)
Is it only me guessing that the fat black tube is meant to pipe fuel to the likely fuel cells in there? Or is that how they deliver broadband where-ever these guys live?
lets just hope this doesn't get a RROD because i don't think you could send that to microsoft to get fixed... :P
awesomeness.
It can't have been that hard since he used the power of a chaos emerald.
I always enjoy seeing the 360 mad into a laptop. Ben Heck still does it the best with offering a removable HDD. The thing still weighs a ton though. Carrying around a 360 with 2 controllers and the power brick is a work-out. The 360 with a screen will break a back. Imagine taking that thing to the airport. Not only will you be pulled to the side, but I'm pretty sure they wont allow that beast on the plane. I really want Ben Heck to join forces with someone who could make better cases for him. I think everything looks cheap with all the squared edges.
cod4 rules!!!!!!
awesome!
hardly portable but totally cool
